Our Mission
The “heart” of our redemption is the starting point of every process of Christian education, which is likewise always an education to a full humanity.” Our mission is to teach from the Heart of Christ that is the pursuit of the weightier things in life and education: right judgment, mercy, and faith. We seek to prepare students for service and leadership in the world and ultimately for eternity.
The Heart of Family
True education is more than informative; it is formative – a lesson in the sincere gift of self which begins at home. Recognizing the primary role of parents, we educate “in loco parentis”, coming along side families who are dedicated to an education that holds the formation of virtue above occupational training.
The Heart of the Student
As students of Christ, we are called not only to know Him, but to follow Him. Fostering the student as a true disciple of Christ full of devotion, docility, diligence, and discipline, we emphasize the way of the cross, self-sacrifice, and community living. We strive to provide real life challenges that nurture critical thinking, personal responsibility, persistent effort, stewardship, and holiness. Drawing from the roots of classical education, we build on the same education given to most of history’s Saints.
The Heart of the Church
Schools were born from the Heart of the Church and have always been recognized as an incomparable center of creativity, providing the dissemination of knowledge and wisdom for the good of humanity. In this tradition, as a Catholic school faithful to the Church, we consecrate ourselves without reserve to the cause of truth. It is in the context of the impartial search for truth that the relationship between faith and reason is brought to light and meaning. The invitation of Saint Augustine, “Intellege ut credas; crede ut intellegas” ,(understand that you may believe, believe that you may understand), is relevant to those called to explore courageously the riches of Revelation and of nature so that the united endeavor of intelligence and faith will enable people to come to the full measure of their humanity, created in the image and likeness of God, renewed even more marvelously, after sin, in Christ, and called to shine forth in the light of the Spirit.

Sarah Phillips
TEACHER
“Hi my name is Sarah Phillips. I am so honored to be able to be a part of the Cor Christi community and share the gifts God has given me and my love for Jesus and teaching with your youth. I look forward to getting to know you all. After high school I served as a member of NET ministries for two years. Then I got my associates degree in nursing from University of South Dakota and worked as a registered nurse before entering the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth in PA. After 6 years, a year before final profession, I was called out surprisingly to return to being a lay person (God knows best). I worked in youth ministry the following years and then met my husband, Matthew. I went on to get my bachelor of science in elementary education from Grand Canyon University. Since then I have had the joy of teaching at a Christian Montessori school and subbing in the Eastmont school district. And the past two years I have had the joy of being able to be the youth minister at St Joseph Catholic Church in Wenatchee. I am excited to return to teaching and so happy that it will be in such an incredible school with topics I love (high school health and nutrition and virtue, and 7th grade pre-algebra).”

Caisey Hardwick
Teacher
“Hello! My name is Caisey Hardwick and I’m excited to be teaching lower elementary this upcoming year. I grew up in the Seattle area as the oldest of four. When I was ten, I used to organize all my younger siblings and the neighbor kids into cities (I was the mayor) or tribes (I was the tribal king) for games. I realized from then on I enjoyed leading, organizing, and having fun. I aim to bring all of these aspects to my classroom. My husband, Aaron, and I have an 8-month-old baby, Dante Leo. Both an Italian poet and a Pope took their name from him. We feel honored. I attended a Dominican parish in the U-District growing up where my husband and I lived for two years before moving to Wenatchee to be closer to family. I graduated from WSU Pullman in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a specialization in English Language Learners. I have taught fifth grade at a Shoreline public school and sixth and fifth grade at a private school in Edmonds. I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and their families this upcoming year and helping prepare them for success at Cor Christi and beyond!”

Matthew Ockinga
Dean of H.S. Students, Teacher
“The Baltimore Catechism states that God made us to know, love and serve him this life so we can be eternally happy with him in Heaven. Cor Christi Academy provides a prayerful environment to live out this mission with hard work, simplicity and joy. Some of the most profound moments of my life have come through the simple lessons God has taught me through my students.” Educational Background: Associates of Arts, Wenatchee Valley College Bachelor’s in English with a Writing Concentration, Franciscan University of Steubenville Master of Arts in Philosophy and Religion, University of St. Mary of the Lake

Leah Kominak
Praeceptor
“As both a parent and instructor, I appreciate the academy’s focus on faith and formation. Cor Christi Academy presents a unique and uncommon opportunity for my children. The lower grades prepare students to encounter in high school the great ideas that built Western Civilization using source texts among peers in an unabashedly Catholic atmosphere. This is education not for the sake of erudition, but for the sake of rightly ordering the intellect in pursuit of the good, true, and beautiful.”

Constance Haberman
Praeceptor
“This will be my tenth year at Cor Christi Academy, and my third as a teacher. The overall experience has been the best of my life. It has made me strong in my faith and studies. I’m excited to continue Cor Christi’s mission through teaching. I enjoy Latin, English and Literature, and write fiction novels at my home in Waterville.”

Michael Drollman
Praeceptor
“This will be my third year at Cor Christi Academy. I enjoy this ministry because it feeds my desire to encourage children, for the well-being of their souls as well as their minds. I have always been interested in the physical sciences and have many college courses in Astronomy, Biology, Geology and Math. Cor Christi gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with my students.”

John Haberman
Founder, Praeceptor
“I am grateful to be part of the mission of Cor Christi Academy as it has been a continual source of spiritual growth, study, and friendship for our family. My prayer is that God continue to bless the work done here that other families may too enjoys its fruits.”
